Dar Interiors grew from the friendship between Michael Davenport, an English anthropologist, and Abderrazzak Qorchi, a Moroccan designer and entrepreneur. United by a mutual fascination and respect for traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, they determined to bring the best of Moroccan design to the UK and international markets.

Extensive travels and research throughout Morocco in the early 1990s culminated in 1994 with the setting up of workshops and kilns in Fez and Marrakech and the launch of the first Dar Interiors' collections from a small showroom in Fulham, London. Dar Interiors' reputation for quality, reliability and innovative design ensured a steady expansion of their client base and in 1998 the company was obliged to move to much larger premises in Vauxhall, London. Today, Dar's principal premises remain their converted railway arch in Vauxhall with a 1,000 sq. ft. dedicated showroom (see 'Showroom') and over 2,000 sq. ft. of warehousing under the same roof.
Although Dar Interiors has been trading for over ten years, our core principles remain unchanged: to combine innovative design and traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, utilising sustainable source materials and employing the skills of Moroccan master artisans, on a fair trade basis, to supply high quality products.

Dar Interiors designs and sources an unusual and continually evolving stock of handmade Moroccan products, including antique and contemporary tiles, fountains, furniture, lighting and a whole range of decorative accessories and gift items. We also specialise in bespoke pieces, working with design professionals and private clients on projects benefiting from the input of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. 'Zellige' (handmade hand-cut Moroccan tiles), iron and metalwork, hand carved plasterwork ('gebs') and hand-turned and painted woodwork are just some of our areas of expertise.
